Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery is the removal of excess tissue from the upper and lower eyelids and the removal or addition of fat to the lower eyelids. As your skin ages, it loses its elasticity and excessive tissue collects and hangs down in the upper and lower eyelids.
Upper blepharoplasty not only improves the look of your eyes, giving them a rested, youthful appearance, but can improve your vision by increasing your visual field. The excess eyelid tissue and fat is removed from the eyelids, and the remaining tissue tightened, giving your upper eyelids a younger, rejuvenated look.
Lower blepharoplasty involves tightening of the lower eyelid, and the addition or removal of fat to help rejuvenate the under eye area. Lower blepharoplasty drastically minimizes the appearance of bagging and puffiness of the lower eyelids which make you look tired and worn down. Lower eyelid lift will not get rid of the dark circles that you may have under your eyes. Lower blepharoplasty can be done in combination with the CO2 laser to achieve this goal.
Upper and lower blepharoplasty procedures can be done individually or at the same time. Eyelid lift surgeries can also be done in combination with CO2 laser, fat injections or facial fillers depending on your aesthetic goals.
