What is Forehead/Brow Lift Surgery?
Dr. Ali Totonchi of Cleveland, OH performs a variety of facial cosmetic surgeries, one of which is forehead/brow lift surgery. A forehead/brow lift surgery is one of the most effective ways to take off years off a patient’s face and helps achieve a refreshed, alert appearance.
Who is a Candidate for Brow Lift?
Many patients are bothered by expression lines in the brow region and forehead creases that develop over time as a sign of aging. A forehead/brow lift surgery done in our certified facilities in Cleveland, OH can help minimize the appearance of these lines. It also helps smooth frown lines, which are the vertical lines that develop between a person’s eyebrows. Patients who have brows that sag so low that they hood over the upper eyelids can also benefit from a forehead/brow lift surgery. This procedure rejuvenates tired looking eyes, resulting in a more revitalized, alert appearance.
Combinations with Other Facial Procedures
A forehead/brow lift surgery can also be done in combination with a facelift and/or other cosmetic procedures to maximize treatment effects. Although a forehead/brow lift surgery is quite effective on its own, for some patients, it is recommended that forehead/brow lift surgery be done together with other facial enhancements to maintain continuity of a youthful appearance throughout the entire face.
Brow Lift Surgery Details
Dr. Ali Totonchi uses two techniques in performing forehead/brow lift surgery for his patients. A forehead/brow lift surgery can be done using either an endoscopic or open technique.
Endoscopic Lift
A forehead/brow lift surgery using the endoscopic technique differs from an open technique in that the endoscopic procedure requires making few small incisions in the patient’s scalp instead of one continuous, long incision. After the insertion of endoscopic access devices to protect the skin, a scope is then inserted into the incisions to help view the underlying tissues and muscles while another device is inserted into another incision. This aids the surgeon in making the necessary alterations while viewing the underlying muscles and tissues of the patient from the scope.
Open technique
This technique is used primarily for rejuvenation of the forehead in patients who have wider foreheads. A forehead/brow lift surgery using the open lift technique in our certified facilities in Cleveland, OH uses one continuous incision in the hairline. The procedure begins above the ears in the hairline and proceeds upwards. Dr. Ali Totonchi then makes a curvilinear incision to make the scars inconspicuous. The underlying tissues and muscles are then adjusted to provide support for the skin. Sometimes a Co2 laser is used over the incision after closure to minimize scar visibility.
How We Provide Long-Lasting Results
In both techniques for forehead/brow lift surgery in our certified facilities in Cleveland, OH, soft tissue is lifted and secured using a suture, which is passed from a small bone tunnel to provide additional support for the underlying tissues and muscles. This technique helps maintain the result of the lift for years. Cleveland’s premier plastic surgeon Dr. Ali Totonchi’s believes forehead/brow lift surgery truly is an effective way to help patients battle the signs of aging and help them look their best.
What are complications associated with Forehead/brow lift?
Some swelling is expected after surgery. Bleeding is very rare; however, some temporary numbness in the forehead area can occur with forehead lift.
