The results of the tummy tuck are noticeable immediately after the procedure and people can appreciate signs of their slimmer, leaner appearance. It is important to note that a tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss, and it does have limitations to removing stretch marks. If you suffer from abdominal stretch marks, only the stretch marks located in the area of tissue to be removed will be resolved.
On average, you may resume your normal day to day activity in 2-4 weeks. You will wear a compression garment/binder for 4-6 weeks after your abdominoplasty procedure. Many people choose to wear a second stage compression garment for an additional 2-4 weeks for added comfort and support. Dr. Totonchi reminds his patients to take it slow when returning to your daily activities and regulate your activity according to how you feel until you are completely healed. There are lifting and exercise restrictions for the first 6-8 weeks after your tummy tuck procedure. Usually drains are used and kept for 1-2 weeks after surgery, but some patients might be a good candidate for drainless abdominoplasty.
