Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure which eliminates excess fat in the areas desired. Liposuction can be performed in one area or multiple areas depending on your aesthetic concerns. There are many liposuction techniques of which Dr Totonchi uses the tumescent liposuction technique. Tumescent means swollen or firm, tumescent fluid is injected into the subcutaneous fat which “plumps” and numbs the area to be treated. Tumescent fluid contains lidocaine for numbing and epinephrine to minimize bleeding by temporarily shrinking blood vessels. Dr Totonchi then removes the excess fat using a fanning technique which leaves the area smooth and contoured. After the procedure, any bruising that develops should only last 10-14 days. Your scars are minimal and inconspicuous. After your liposuction procedure, you will be required to wear a compression garment which you will purchase prior to your procedure. We will assist you in choosing the best compression garment for your desired liposuction procedure. You will bring this garment with you on your surgery day. Your garment can be purchased through Marena Compression Wear. You will wear this compression garment for approximately 4 weeks to minimize the chances of seroma after liposuction. After 4 weeks, there are no restrictions, and you may resume all regular activities.
